宝节堂是一座保存完好的明代古代园林，始建于北宋，重建于南宋，明清两代和民国时期经常被修复。最初叫叶氏别院，后改名为梦园，明朝才改成了宝节堂。叶梦德是南宋时期的左丞相、户部尚书、观文殿大学士、文学家和诗人，宝节堂是他的故居。宝节堂位于太湖之滨的洞庭东山陆巷古村蒋湾港嵩峰山麓，依山傍水，风景秀丽。这个明代建筑格局规则严整，布局庄重，宅第建筑恢宏，以小巧精雅著称。园中以水池为中心，四周布置了亭阁轩庭，山石花木，假山曲桥，形成明净开朗的主景。整个园林主次分明，变化丰富。园中有景、移步换景、一步一景，还巧妙地借用了园外的自然山景。建筑虽多但不拥塞，山池虽小但不局促，展示了苏州古典园林以小胜多的典范。
